As a Maned wolf, Gen looks sorta like a very long legged fox. His fur is a rusty red that slowly darkens to the smoky black of his legs. He has a black tuff of fur on the back of his neck that may one day become a mane. More than half of his tail is white to match his chest.
But that is all normal for a maned wolf. The thing that sets him apart is a large scar going from the top of his right shoulder to the center of his chest. He is also missing the tip of his left ear.
Gen has light green eyes which rarely let you in farther than the very surface. In the rare case that you do see something other than his well made mask, you will likely be frozen with shock for a few minutes. Gen's orbs can convey more emotion than most wolves feel in a lifetime.

Personality:
One can almost say Gen has three personalities. One, which he made himself; another, that is more sensitive than a baby's behind; and the third? Well, that one is has only ever been seen by his former pack.
The side of Gen which is usually visible is rather likable. It is very childish and honest. This side is just as likely to try walking on his front paws as on all fours. When Gen is in this mood, he is funny and absurd and pup like. Of course, he isn't all fun and games. This side of Gen tends to be extremely curious as well as fearless. Not a good combination for a two year old pup.
But that is only a well made mask under which is an extremely sensitive and loving wolf. This wolf finds it hard to eat even the lowest of the mice. But this side of Gen is also very easy to hurt. A single word can send him into a deep depression. It is fortunate that few wolfs see this side of Gen.
But it was not always hidden. Before he created his mask, Gen was very often sent into a deep depression during which he would hardly eat, and well... he was pretty much as good as dead. Fortunately, it's been almost a year since he's gone this low. Perhaps, as his mask hardens, this side of Gen will be forgotten altogether.

History:
No one knows how it happened that a maned wolf pup was found so far north. Most say magic, and not even Gen knows that he was part of a human experiment at adaptation. But it is this very experiment that sent the young pup's life in turmoil.
It was autumn when the pup was found by a large pack. He was small, starving, and would have died if not for the alpha's twisted sense of humor. Instead, he was chased around for a bit, and then given to the lowest member of the pack to be the alpha's personal servant. He was treated as scum when noticed, but thankfully, he was mostly ignored.
That period of his life was rather awful, he was not made for the winter, and the pack's treatment helped none at all. Neither did his sensitive nature. After a year, Gen finally managed to escape.
His second winter nearly killed him. But luck was on his side. He spent most of the winter hiding out on a nearly abandoned farm, eating rats and mice. Once spring came, he set out to search for wolves that look like him. There was only one problem. He was going farther North, right into the lands of Autumn mist.
