Spiral. Well... I was talking to dad, and we sorta talked about my block, and he sorta proposed a plot. You know how before, "white" people sorta kept to their own little part of the world, and then eventually went out to conquer the Indians? Ya, well imagine that, only FAR in the future, and humans are the Indians. Also, dad told me about a book, Captain Blood? (a doctor was accused of being evil for helping the enemy because of his vows and was sent to a prison colony, but escaped when pirates attacked it. Then he became a pirate himself.) Wouldn't it be interesting if you sorta mixed the two?

you know what you should read? Forever War. It's awesome, and even though it's not really what you're talking about, it lies in the same direction. Anyway, i like the plot, except first of all to develop both of them you'd actually need to write a novel instead of the short stories to which i am accustomed, and second of all it would take a bunch of figuring out how to write that from the point of view of one of the aliens (i don't know, i can't for some reason stop thinking of it as actually from the side of that alien or something, not sure why)

Hmmm, well I WAS hoping for something more than a short story. Those drive me insane. (when I write them) anyway, It would be intersting if there were two doctors and the same thing happened to both of them? (sorta similar... not identical) and one was a human, the other alien. Anyway... me gots to go...

oh, really? i get insane if anything i write develops into more than a short story. cause then i have to keep writing it, and it pulls my time away, and it still usually comes up sticking as bad as lisa's socks. yeah, so they would each be thrown into opposing cultures... would they ever meet?

okay, will you be focusing on inter-space or actually on planets with the interspace visited only very briefly, almost momentarily, to transport from one space to the other?

Well...The fact that it's the future won't be part of the plot as much as other things... like, in the LoTR, the middle earth is there.... and in the plot.... but it's not at the center of the plot.

yeah, i kind of assumed that. what i'm asking is whether most of your story will take place inside spaceships or on planets? because depending on which setting you use, two very different styles of writing would emerge.

I was thinking, maybe have the two pirats actually try "rob" each other, and wile they are thus ocupied, have the "space cops" take advantage of the situation, and catch them both. Then..... they either die, or work together to save themselves...
